OUR STORY
MPT Concrete's journey began in 2004, born from a passion for concrete craftsmanship and a desire to contribute to the Hawke's Bay community. Founder, Mike Teddy, with a background in civil works and concrete contracting, first established MPT to provide specialised services to local councils and infrastructure projects.
Early projects involved roading, kerb and channel machine operation, and small to large-scale concrete works, including complex excavations and steelwork. This early experience instilled in us the values of precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to exceeding client expectations.
In 2009, a brief move to Wellington saw Mike take on a supervisory role in a major CBD maintenance contract, overseeing a large team and managing a diverse portfolio of civil works. This experience broadened our understanding of large-scale project management and reinforced the importance of teamwork, efficiency, and clear communication.
Returning to Hawke's Bay in 2011, MPT Concrete was revived with a renewed focus on serving the local community. We steadily expanded our team and capabilities, taking on increasingly ambitious projects, including:
Kauri Street Development: Providing comprehensive concrete foundations and hardscaping infrastructure for a 40-house development in Hastings.
Hawke's Bay Regional Aquatic Centre: Constructing the concrete foundations for this world-class community facility.
Pettigrew Green Arena Extension: Installing over 5,900 m² of concrete foundations for the expansion of this major sporting venue.
When Cyclone Gabrielle devastated the region in 2023, we were proud to mobilise our team and resources to assist in the recovery efforts. Our heavy plant and skilled operators played a vital role in clearing debris, restoring access, and supporting the Silt Taskforce in Puketapu, Pakowhai, and Esk Valley. This experience further strengthened our commitment to our community and highlighted the importance of resilience and collaboration in the face of adversity. Having received such overwhelming support from the community over the past 20 years, it was a no brainer for Mike and the team to jump in and help get the community back on its feet.
Today, MPT Concrete stands as a testament to hard work, dedication, and a passion for excellence. We've grown from a small operation to a leading concrete contractor in Hawke's Bay, employing a skilled team and boasting a diverse fleet of equipment.
Our story is one of continuous growth, unwavering commitment, and a deep-rooted connection to our community. We're proud of the projects we've completed, the partnerships we've built, and the positive impact we've made in Hawke's Bay.
As we look to the future, we remain dedicated to delivering exceptional concrete solutions, exceeding client expectations, and contributing to the growth and prosperity of our region.
